We have a new “What’s my Line” from our friend, Tina and we talk about where we are this week. (Hint, it’s something called the “National Catholic Youth Conference”). Finally, Pat has some interesting new about the World Beard Championships.

Finally, for our “Catholic of Caliber” this month, we have Mike Mangione. We recently sat down with him before one of his shows in Kansas City. Listen for a great interview with a wonderful Catholic musician.

Conceived and founded by Mary Kay Hoal, Yoursphere is the first social networking service for youth that parents can embrace. Drawing on her corporate entrepreneurial experience as a media strategist, advertising, marketing and publishing VP formerly with CMP Media LLC, Mary Kay built the Yoursphere team. A proud wife and mother of five children (both biological and adopted, ranging in age from 4-17 years old), Mary Kay Hoal faces the same challenges every parent does: keeping her kids safe; raising them to be good, happy and well-balanced people; and providing them with the tools and support to create their own future. While Mary Kay readily admits that she didn’t “get” the whole online social networking phenomenon at first, she quickly recognized its importance in her kids’ lives. After researching the disturbing landscape of social networking sites—including endless inappropriate content and thousands of predators targeting youth—Mary Kay’s mission became clear: raise the bar. Yoursphere is a terrific online community where kids and teens connect, share and inspire — all in a place the puts Internet safety first. Parents can relax while kids and teens have fun.

A visit to a U. S. military cemetery near Florence Italy is the fodder for this week’s Deacon Moment with Deacon Tom Fox. Tom suggests we applaud all our veterans and to pray for them on this, their special day.

Sarah Reinhard’s struggling with prayer, and her Mary Moment reflection this week includes a quote from Mother Teresa’s Secret Fire: The Encounter That Changed Her Life and How It Can Transform Your Own, by Joseph Langford, and thoughts on tapping into Mary’s desire to help us succeed.

Ever heard of the Catholic Foodie? So have we! Jeff Young is our featured guest on the show and he’s here to talk about spiritual hunger. Have you ever felt that tug that there’s more to life than just getting up every morning, going to work and coming home? We feel like there is. Take a listen to our interview with Jeff to find out more.To begin the show, we catch up on some of the latest news going on in our lives. The National Catholic Youth Conference is coming up in two weeks! Additionally, there have been some interesting things that the US Conference of Bishops have written about healthcare reform lately and Pat found a basketball game where a player whacks a bat with his bare hand.

Finally, we finish out the show with a great book review from our friend, Barb in Nebraska, who reviews a book called “An Altar in the World.”

Before ending the show, we quiz Jeff to see if he’s up to taking our chick flick or horror film challenge. Think you can get them all correct? Stay tuned to see if you’re right!

In this episode, we have two special guests: Dan and Kyle from Popple, one of our favorite bands. They are working on releasing a new CD, which has been unnamed until now. On the show, they reveal the new name and have an excerpt of a song from the CD to play for us. In the interview, we get the opportunity to ask them a number of questions including “What’s up with the Contra code in your song?”

To start off, we have a lot of news. Did you know that they have a special mass just for judges? It’s called a red mass and one was recently celebrated for the six Catholic judges that sit on the Supreme court. We talk about how Google is celebrating the 57th anniversary of the bar code by changing their logo and what to do if you are a Linux lover and also have a baby. (Hint: someone made a youtube video.) Also check out our t-shirt contest where you can win prizes for designing a In Between Sundays t-shirt

This week’s Catholic Challenge is from Maria, who gives us a great book review on “Theology for Beginners” by Francis Joesph Sheed. During the month of October we are featuring book reviews from our listeners. Have a great book to share? Leave us a voicemail at (206) 337-7945.

Sarah Reinhardt called in about a CatholicMom.com contest. Finally, we wrap up with a rousing round of Chick Flick or Horror Film. Not only do we get to quiz Dan and Kyle, but they have a few movies for us that they have created. Think you can beat us at our own game? Take a listen and see how many you get correct.
