Bounty (SG1)

SSG250: A price is placed on SG-1’s heads—and suddenly nowhere on Earth is safe.

After sabotaging a Lucian Alliance shipment, the team becomes the galaxy’s newest bounty target. Assassins spread across Earth hunting Carter, Daniel, Teal’c, and Mitchell. But instead of a single battlefield, the danger erupts in the most unexpected places.

Mitchell heads home to Kansas for his high-school reunion—bringing Vala along as his date. What could possibly go wrong? Between awkward classmates, over-the-top stories about Vala’s past, and unresolved feelings with Mitchell’s old crush Amy Vanderberg, the reunion becomes the last place anyone expects an alien shootout.

Meanwhile Carter attends a scientific conference with Dr. Lee, where experimental technology becomes more than just a demo. Daniel faces a suspicious admirer while researching at a library. On Chulak, Teal’c is asked to join a new High Council—but even there the bounty hunters close in.

Jeff Haecker, Lisa Jones, and Victor Lams break down the episode’s mix of action and comedy. Was this a fun character spotlight for Mitchell as SG-1 approached the end of its run—or a missed opportunity for bigger storytelling?

The panel discusses:

  • Why the Lucian Alliance struggles as a villain
  • Whether late-season standalone stories help or hurt SG-1
  • The episode’s Western-style bounty hunter premise
  • Vala’s chaos at the reunion
  • Clever callbacks like the hologram technology
  • Memorable moments including exploding trees, surprise assassins, and a bus-hit trope
  • The introduction of bounty hunter Ventrell and his surprising turn
  • How Mitchell’s personal life gets rare screen time

It’s action, comedy, nostalgia—and one very unusual high-school reunion.
