Klingon or Time Lord Jesus? Mary Celeste? Salem Witch Trials? And More Patron Questions

MYS433: A boy sends in a video question: is telekinesis real, is it demonic, and is it ever good? It turns out to be the right door into a whole episode, because the answer starts with God — who has no body and made a material universe anyway.

Jimmy Akin and Dom Bettinelli work through twelve questions from patrons, in a bonus episode recorded to thank them and now shared with everyone.

Is telekinesis real, and is it demonic? Parapsychology calls it psychokinesis. Jimmy argues it is plainly possible in principle, since angels act on matter without bodies. Whether humans have it is open: scripture is silent and the Church has no formal teaching, though Aquinas and Pope St. Gregory the Great took the reports seriously. Demons are bad angels, so some psychokinesis would be demonic — but not all of it. And no, there is no evidence of actual skinwalkers at Skinwalker Ranch.

How do you tell codependency from Christian love? Jimmy corrects the premise first — the commandment is to love your neighbor as yourself — then draws the line: charity is ordered to the good of the other, while codependency runs on fear, approval-seeking, or control, and often enables the harm it means to relieve.

What happened aboard the Mary Celeste? Found abandoned mid-Atlantic in 1872, food and pipes left out, no bodies, no sign of violence. The likeliest reconstruction is a panicked evacuation over a danger that never came: fumes from the denatured-alcohol cargo, a faulty pump, or a waterspout.

Could there be a Klingon Jesus? Aquinas takes up the underlying question in Summa Theologiae III, questions 3 and 4: a divine person can assume more than one created nature, so simultaneous incarnations involve no contradiction — though he thought it unfitting, and had no concept of other worlds — the medieval cosmos stopped just past Saturn. Would the incarnations know about each other? Here Jimmy departs from Aquinas and follows the Catechism: Christ’s human knowledge held what he came to reveal, so that awareness would take a deliberate download from omniscience.

Also: the Kensington Runestone, whose runes look more modern than 14th-century; Melchizedek of Salem, a Canaanite priest who already knew God Most High; whether a saint’s transplanted organ makes its recipient a living reliquary; the Salem witch trialsley lines and the apophenia that may have generated them; whether your belongings follow you into the next life; and whether scripture ever says Satan was appointed ruler of this world.

The feedback segment returns to episode 422 on the Ark of the Covenant — why the Babylonians weren’t struck down like Uzzah, the 2 Maccabees letter claiming Jeremiah hid it, the Hancock hypothesis, and the Lemba of Zimbabwe and their Ngoma Lungundu.
